We are a veteran-owned and operated Human Resources (HR) firm based in Virginia and Washington, DC. We help organizations nationwide manage HR, payroll, and recruitment with reliable, compliant support.

Our team combines military discipline with corporate HR experience to deliver practical, scalable solutions for small and mid-sized businesses.

Social impact and suicide prevention:
As a veteran-owned business, we are committed to supporting veterans, service members, and their families. In alignment with national efforts such as VA suicide prevention initiatives and the Government-wide Military-Connected Strategic Plan, we focus on improving employment opportunities and stability for military families.

Through dedicated programs and partnerships, we work to expand remote and hybrid work opportunities and provide resources that support long-term career growth for veterans and military spouses.

SpadeSSR’s Mission Statement

Our primary mission is to provide the best world-class support to all organizations that we support. Additionally, our mission is to create meaningful employment opportunities for veterans, service members, and their families while delivering high-quality HR services to our clients. SpadeSSR aims to address two critical issues: “Veteran Suicide Rates,” supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Suicide Prevention Program outlined in VHA Directive 1160.07, and “Military Spousal Employment Deficiencies,” assisting with the Military-Connected Strategic Plan for FY 2024-2028 released by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). By providing specialized HR services and tailored support groups, we strive to alleviate the challenges faced by veterans and their families, particularly in terms of Mental Health Therapy Treatments and Employment Opportunities, through donations and residual income.

Why we chose the Spade?

A simple mark with a powerful meaning: clarity, unity, and readiness. In World War II, U.S. Airborne units used bold, easily recognized symbols, often playing‑card suits, as the Spade stenciled on helmets. These field markings helped paratroopers regroup quickly after chaotic night drops, cut through confusion, and move as one team.
 
That history resonates with us. The Spade was a fast, unmistakable signal: “You’re with us.” It stood for teamwork, accountability, and discipline under pressure. We chose the spade to honor that legacy, and because it reflects how we operate today: clear standards, aligned action, and dependable execution when it matters most.

April 2024

We earned certification as a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) through the SBA’s Veteran Small Business Certification Program.

September 2023

We formed a partnership with Microsoft to enhance our HR and administrative services with secure, cloud-based tools.
